Kund Multi Slate

Kund Multi Slate is an eye-catching and picturesque natural stone which truly reflects the colorful beauty of nature. Kund region of Rajasthan, India is the source of this slate and is globally well known for its distinct combination of colors, texture and the overall coloration of the stone along with its architectural and design versatility.

Kund Multi Slate forms as a result of the complex geological process that combines both sedimentary and metamorphic features. It is a polymetric variety of metamorphic rock which comes into existence from sandstone and shale. This process begins in Kund which is located in the Aravalli region of Rajasthan, one of the stone centers in India. The Kund Multi Slate is quarried in and around Kund. The Kund region in the Aravalli Hills has extensive deposits of metamorphic rocks that are subjected to great heat and pressure over a long period of time, converting them into fine-grained quartzite slate.

Kund Multi Slate is so appealing to the eye as it showcases a combination of earth and rich tones. This is made possible due to iron oxide, mica, quartz and feldspar present in this slate creating a virgin palette of earthy tones.

Physical and Aesthetic Features

The splendor of Kund Multi Slate lies in the earthy hues and natural color variations of the stone. It possesses rich visual appeal due to the contrast and texture that is present on the
surface. The important features include:

1. Color Palette: Strong combination of rust, ochrea, gold, green, grey, violet, and charcoal colors. These both appear in a soft streaming manner reminiscent of some masterpiece.
Moreover, its beauty is enhanced by the various natural minerals embedded in it, which sparkle when the stone is lit.

2. Surface Texture: Commonly has a cleft finish, it is uneven and rough. This type of texture is appealing for the rustic look desired while simultaneously providing slip resistance. However, some other less natural forms also exist like honed (smooth or matte), brushed (soft undulating surface), or tumbled (antique appearance).

3. Hardness and Density: Usually stocked as tiles with a thickness of 10-20mm, and slabs with customized dimensions. It can have a uniform thickness, which simplifies installation, therefore it is suited for use as both flooring and wall cladding.

4. Thickness and Sizes: Typically sold as tiles ranging from 10-20 mm thick. Slabs are available in custom dimensions. It can be calibrated to have a uniform thickness making it simple to install, which makes it perfect for floor and wall cladding.

5. Sheen and Finish Options: Its unrefined version showcases very low shine, but sealing allows the stone to display richness in color increases, yielding a light satin finish. The sparkling mineral particles sprinkled on the stone surface give a low-level shine, making the stone look even more breathtaking in bright light.
